چکیده

Abstract Continuous occurrence of heavy metals is a major cause environmental pollution due to its toxic effects. At minimum concentrations, these are highly reactive and can gather in the food chains web, causing dangers public health concerns. Soil samples were collected from Paharang drain, Faisalabad. Cadmium tolerant bacteria isolated evaluated for their MIC against Cd. The bacterial strain GCFSD01 showed value upto 30 mM/L. with highest resistance Cd was selected further study. Molecular characterization isolate performed by 16S rRNA which confirmed it as Bacillus cereus. Optimum growth conditions also evaluated. Strain optimum at pH 7 37 °C temperature. Our result revealed that B. cereus reduced 61.3% after 48 hrs. Multiple metal tolerance reduction indicate potential use decontamination polluted soil.

Evaluation of Toxicity of Iron, Chromium and Cadmium on Bacillus cereus Growth

Objective High concentration of iron and other trace elements could restrict bacterial growth and modify their metabolic pattern as well. However, this study aimed to find out the influence of iron, chromium, cadmium and synergism or antagonism between these elements on the growth of a gram positive bacterium. Materials and Methods In a series of experiments, Bucillus cereus was cultured in a n...

Draft Genome Sequence of Leifsonia sp. Strain NCR5, a Rhizobacterium Isolated from Cadmium-Contaminated Soil

We report here the draft genome sequence of Leifsonia sp. strain NCR5, a Gram-positive actinomycete isolated from Carpobrotus rossii (Haw.) Schwantes rhizosphere. The de novo genome of Leifsonia sp. strain NCR5 was assembled with 69 scaffolds and a G+C content of 69%, was 4.2 Mb in length, and contained 3,952 coding sequences.

Rhizobacteria isolated from a metal-polluted area enhance plant growth in zinc and cadmium-contaminated soil

In this work, we evaluated the ability of rhizobacteria isolated from a metal-contaminated site to produce plant growth-promoting substances, such as indole-3acetic acid (IAA), ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, siderophores and extracellular enzymes, to solubilize phosphate and for 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC)-deaminase activity, while assessing their capacity to enhance Trifolium repens gr...

Cadmium removal from contaminated soil by tunable biopolymers.

An elastin-like polypeptide (ELP) composed of a polyhistidine tail (ELPH12) was exploited as a tunable, metal-binding biopolymer with high affinity toward cadmium. By taking advantage of the property of ELPH12 to undergo a reversible thermal precipitation, easy recovery of the sequestered cadmium from contaminated water was demonstrated as the result of a simple temperature change. In this stud...

Phytoremediation of soil contaminated with cadmium, copper and polychlorinated biphenyls.

A pot experiment and afield trial were conducted to study the remediation of an aged field soil contaminated with cadmium, copper and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) (7.67 +/- 0.51 mg kg(-1) Cd, 369 +/- 1 mg kg(-1) Cu in pot experiment; 8.46 +/- 0.31 mg kg(-1) Cd, 468 +/- 7 mg kg(-1) Cu, 323 +/- 12 microg kg(-1) PCBs for field experiment) under different cropping patterns. In the pot experimen...
